Clinical Message

The ACORN Toolkit includes a system of clinical algorithms referred to as Resource Optimization Intelligence (ROI). The over all intent of the algorithms is to direct limited resources towards those patients in greatest need of continued treatment. The messages draw attention to risk factors, identify patients most likely to show gains with continued treatment, and warn clinician of those patients at greatest risk for premature termination with a poor outcome. The system also provides feedback on those cases doing well, including those who a least likely to need continued services.

The ROI logic look at a number of scales from the patient self-report questionnaires as well as the magnitude and direction of change of these scale. The ROI logic includes information on the diagnosis and length of time in treatment along with scores from the global distress, self-harm, substance abuse and alliance scales.
